**Esau Kripanik SIGNATURE Caribou with Embroidery
Magnificent Carving! Fantastic Movement!
The existence of SINNER vs ALCARAZ is due solely to Esau Kripanik's perseverance.
Esau drove his Skidoo for two days across the Arctic in order to cut the Brilliant White Stone from the quarry outside of Igloolik.
It is a sad fact of life, that many Inuit carvers lose their lives transporting stone.
His dangerous journey was fraught with obstacles like blizzards, white outs, roaming polar bears and broken ice.
Esau is one of my favourite carvers.
He is talented and innovative AND he has Magic in his fingertips.
Carving a Caribou has its difficulties.
The Caribou's legs taper into the foot.
The "ankles" are thin and fragile and often break either during carving or when the stone is being polished.
It's heartbreaking!
SINNER is adorned with a running Wolf embroidery on one side and a seal on the other.
She appears to have been running but has stopped just for a moment to scent the air and reassess her route home.
Her legs are long and muscular but delicate at the same time.
Her antlers are her crowning glory.
Sinner vs Alcaraz is REGAL but she is still a very wild creature.
Esau's SIGNATURE is the exquisite embroidery (etchings) of Arctic mammals and birds on his sculptures.
The matte finish of the white store lends itself to these carved motifs.
This beauty will shimmer in your collection.
