The Colour of Tranquility! Museum quality Carving!
Pits was a genius in so many ways.
His mastery was in his ability to select THE Perfect stone for each one of his carvings.
GREAT CANADIAN SMILE is such a piece.
The lively green stone shimmers.
Each cell of this walrus is alive and vibrating which is contrary to the stereotype of most walruses which is to be large and slow to move.
Pits has given Great Canadian a thoughtful and intelligent face with a respectable set of tusks!
Sadly, Pits passed away in October 2024 while searching for stone.
As each day passes, there are fewer Pits' carvings available to the public.
If you want to include another Pits' carving into your collection, don't let this dignified walrus escape you.
